John's giftmas pillow

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Stupendous Stitching: Adventures in Surface Design »

Instructions

Good learning experience. I like the "no mistakes" attitude because I'm not an experienced sewer, but I learned a few things to improve next time. Fantastic technique. As warned in the class, the busy pattern does compete a bit with the stitching, but the selection was limited at my local fabric store, and it still looks nice.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Ethnic, Classic

Materials

Batik Fabric, fat quarters, various interfacing and batting, rattail cords, threads.

What was your inspiration?

The class, and a desperate need to think of something to give those people who need nothing.

What are you most proud of?

The embroidery stitching and color selections.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Do whatever moves you. It will likely turn out well.

I like it, too. It has neutral colours and the busyness adds some sparkle :o) By the way, if you can't find fabrics you like in your local shop, online shops or eBay are a good option - I got some gorgeous fabrics that way. And garage sales, of course...

Actually, I think the busy background adds a lot of movement to your piece. I like it very much!

Thanks Carol Ann! I'm making a few more as gifts--really enjoying the technique!
