Here are some details about my project:
Category Quilting
Type Quilt
Style Art

What materials did you use? Kaufman Kona Cotton for the face, Benartex New York State of Mind for this brick wall, and the Yellow Submarine Line for the blue in the eye glasses that has the text "All You Need Is Love" on it over and over again. The batting is two layers of Quilters Dream 80/20. I did a facing instead of a binding because i didn't want anything to deter from the image of John Lennon. I kept the seam ripper edges crisp so the image would remain sharp.

What are you most proud of? that i did it as a quilt as you go and, of course, that it's a finished project instead of a UFO.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? try it out, the class makes complex images very easy to achieve.

This so amazing!!, Is the top layer the white cotton. also at what layer did you put the blue for the classes, is it the full sheet or just a section in the area where the classes are. again amazing artist. Thanks for sharing, your accomplishments.

thank you for the compliments. the first layer next to the batting was the light grey (which you called white) it was the entire size of the quilt sandwich. then the next layer is the black fabric which is also the entire size of the quilt sandwich. then i quilted in the entire image of JL then cut away all the black fabric where i wanted the light grey to show through. then i did fusible applique on top (the traditional method) of the medium grey in those sections only. finally i did fusible applique of the blue fabric on top in the eye glasses. so its a combo method of this class plus some fusible applique.

This is incredible! I second the above comment about listing this as a project. I'd love to give it a go but have no clue how I'd make the template/stencil. Truly amazing work!

thank you. do you mean list it as a project as in make it a pattern available to craftsy people to make themselves?

01/17/2014 Flag

Yes, sorry for my lack of clarity. I'd love the pattern to make this, it looks incredible!
