Instructions
I created this bag as a messenger bag - rectangle front and back, long strips for bottom and sides, rectangle flap. It is fully lined, with pockets made from parts of the print fabric. I drew a few diagrams to get the measurements right, but mostly made it up as I was going.Difficulty:
Category: Sewing
Type of item: Accessory
For: Men
Style: Outdoorsy, Eco-Friendly
Materials
Hemp canvas, John Deere quilting cotton, cotton webbing, backpack clips
What was your inspiration?
I found the John Deere fabrics on sale, and wanted to focus them in something useful for my Dad. I decided to try patchwork, and made 12 blocks that only used triangles and squares.
What are you most proud of?
I love the chicken mesh fabric I used for sashing, and the plethora of different sized pockets I managed to hide all over it (There are more inside that were too hard to photograph)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you can make a net of a rectangular prism from paper, you can make this bag - it basically uses middle-school level geometry and sewing in straight lines.
