Don't you want to chain 3 at the beginning of each round? Otherwise the height of the beginning stitch will be off, right??

That would be my guess, unless there is an intentional pucker at the beginning of every round. (Not the designer, clearly, but those are my 2).

I think it's a matter of preference. Some people find that doing chain 3 leaves a gap when they join rounds, so they prefer to use chain 2.

What size hook would I use for DK weight yarn?
PDDesigns on craftsy.com
Dec 26, 2012   Flag as inappropriate
DK weight yarn would make the hat turn out VERY small. You would need to double your yarn and use the hook noted in the pattern.

I made this hat but didn't turn out big enough or look right.I thought there may have been something missing from the pattern but when I re-checked it was ok. Is there something I am missing? Thanks Carolyn ( icetealady)

With the beginning stiches...are you meaning to do a foundation row?
PDDesigns on craftsy.com
Jan 06, 2012   Flag as inappropriate
Nope. You are working 10 dc in the 2nd chain from the hook. This is your first round of dc in the hat.

I read you used Lion Brand Amazing yarn. I have this yarn....it's really really thin...I don't think it will look like this - did you use two strands?

Heyy. I just started crocheting and this ------> (20 dc) is confusing me. How exactly do I complete this step?
PDDesigns on craftsy.com
Oct 16, 2011   Flag as inappropriate
the (20 dc) simply states that after working round 2 -->Work 2 dc in each stitch around<---that you should have 20 dc made. I place the stitch count at the end of every row.

Hi, can you tell us what brand of yarn was used. I tried this using Simply Soft Paints and a J hook and it came out alot smaller than the picture - almost child size. Since the yarn I used is ww, I think I need a chunkier yarn. Thanks

when you reach the 80 dc, your hat should measure about 26 inches in circumference. If it doesn't, I would suggest moving up to a size K hook (you may crochet tighter than I do). The yarn I used was Lion Brand Amazing.

This happened to me as well. The circumference of the final opening was too small. Will try again with a bigger hook.

I used an I hook and Simply Soft yarn and my hat is WAY too small as well. I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the pattern to make it bigger...
