Materials

Unknown sock yarn (sorry!), and #2 - 40 inch circular needle for Magic Loop.

What was your inspiration?

My sister Kelly got me started on two-at-a-time socks. These, my first, are cuff-down. I wish I had written down the type of yarn this was, because it's one of my favorites...I adore the jewel tones and the irregular colorway.

What are you most proud of?

I finished them without a formal pattern after my sister told me how to start them (we live states apart). Through the internet on Magic Loop and my own head-scratching, I was able to figure it out and ended up with a whole pair of socks!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Socks are strangely addicting, so don't start! The magic of magic loop, the magic of self-striping yarn: mesmerizing...

These look really gorgeous and to complete without a formal pattern is quite an accomplishment..

Thanks, junebug! I can read those patterns, I can even understand them, but translating them to actual knitting seems tricky for me. Becoming a handspinner and relying on my instincts to adapt patterns has given me confidence.
