Difficulty:
Category: Crocheting
Type of item: Clothing
For: Women
Style: Casual, Whimsical, Goth, Funky
Materials
I used worsted weight "Cascade 220 wool" yarn, and a 5 mm hook...
What was your inspiration?
First inspiration was a hooded jacket I bought for my daughters... I then made a kid's crocheted version with a long hood (Ermeline, see my other projects) and then upsized it to a capelet version, then this cardigan.
Lot of work, but SO worth it. I've been wearing it nearly every single day since I finished it.
What are you most proud of?
A lady told me the other day those long hoods were called "liripipes", refering to medieval costumes with super long hoods. Wow, I had forgotten those, but they were probably somewhere in my head :-D
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't be intimidated by this project, it's not difficult (it's mostly double crochet, worked in the front loop to give it more drape) and my pattern includes TONS of pictures to guide you through every step.
