Instructions

Here's my 2nd pair made out of premium denim, 14oz 100% cotton. Sewing with such heavy material takes a little experience and practice, it's definitely more difficult than light weight. Not hemmed yet...want to wash 3-4 more times before hemming to be sure all lengthwise shrinkage is done. I did Kenneth's waistband this time instead of the Wriangler waistband...it's fine standing but huge gap ...

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't choose super heavy weight fabric for your first pair if you are an inexperienced sewer.

Those just look great; how hard was this class? Would you recommend it for a beginner? I am really struggling with the pants fit by Sandra Betzina but I really like the pants she has for the class so I just have go to figure it out! Thanks

Hi Shelly...Kenneth is a wonderful teacher, he goes through every step. I think you should dive in!! Use some less expensive fabric for your first pair. You will learn many fundamentals. Being able to ask questions as you go along is invaluable. You can do it!

Thanks Lynne, I wore them to a party this last weekend and got comments on them. One gal asked where I bought them, said they looked like NYDJ jeans but she couldn't ID the pocket

Beautiful job. Such perfectly straight stitches and the embroidered pocket is very pretty.

One comment on the back pocket design....it's not the right scale. Jean fashion these days is all about the pocket, right? I will keep working the design till I have it right!

Thanks!! I think 11-12 oz is a good starting place. I happen to really love heavy denim....from my teen years with Levi's 501 Shrink to fits.

Your pants look great. I have this class but have not tried making jeans yet. I'll make sure my material is light weight, when I do. Thanks!!

Not too light. An 11-12 oz would be easier for the first pair than 14oz. It's such a fun class!
