Quilting Quickly II: Patterns, Techniques & Tips »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Unisex

Style: Traditional, Romantic, Outdoorsy

Materials

Denim and flannel

What was your inspiration?

My husband and a friend. We go to race tracks and I thought this quilt would be sturdy enough to take with us. It gets chilly at night. Then a friend made homespun rag quilts for her three boys. So I took the Craftsy class.

What are you most proud of?

Cutting apart all the jeans. ;P

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The quilt gets heavy. I broke 4 needles on the last few rows from the quilt pulling the needle into the metal plate. Make sure the quilt is supported as you are working on it.

I make rag quilts out of flannel fabric. I have found the best sissors are actually made for cutting rag quilts. They are short with red handles. I got mine at JoAnn's in the quilting tools section. Great idea usiing jeans!

Thank you. I used the clippers that Jenny suggested. The Fiskars. I got mine at JoAnns to with my 50 off coupon. They were great! Had the quilt clipped in one night and my hand never got tired.

Great quilt. How did your hands hold up doing all the clipping? Do you have any tips? Thank you for sharing.
