What materials did you use? Heirloom Cotton with 100% Hobbs Wool Batting. Aurifil 28/2 thread from Red Rock Threads. Black plated gold needles, No. 9 (although John James has become my go-to needle since it's a longer needle and I can pack on more stitches). Hinterberg lap hoop. Oh - before I begin, I always wash my hands - and as a rule, I don't have food, drink, men, children, or animals nearby. I've never owned a TV, so the escape of quilting in silence or visiting with family members while being read to from our favorite books have become my favorite part of the day.

What are you most proud of? It took a lot of preparation and nesting to prepare for bringing the new art of quilting into my home. I am a first generation quilter. Finding the courage and answers on how to begin this craft, while making room for this project in my life was a huge step, and will probably be yours too. Quilting itself is actually easy and relaxing. It's the ancillary preparation and worries that nearly stressed me out!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Dive in! I ordered all my supplies from Wilma at Christian Lane Quilters - she's quite amazing, and even spent generous time with me on the phone. She basted the quilt together, so it was all prepared and ready to go. Here's a link to her website. http://www.christianlanequilters.com/page/page/590515.htm

I can feel the love you put in every stitch. I am about to start a door hanging panel in dupion silk and you have inspired me to begin. It all seemed daunting but now I am inspired. Thank you for sharing your work x
