I enlarged a paper pieced Mariner's star for the center of the quilt. along all the edges were a kimono block, then a Kanji , then another kimono block followed by another Kanji etc all the way around except I made Japanese fans for the corners. What advice would you give someone starting this project?
use oriental inspired fabrics for the kimonos. I love paper piecing because it is so precise. I often enlarge patterns from my extensive quilting library. They are striking in the center of a quilt.
