Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Art Quilting 101: Design Basics »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Outdoorsy, Whimsical, Traditional

Materials

cotton fabrics, decorative thread, tulle, various couched yarns

What was your inspiration?

I combined a recent photo I took of a northern Wisconsin dawn sky and memories of small Japanese farms in the mountains...

What are you most proud of?

I'm proud to have finished my first art quilt after taking Wendy Butler Berns' very good course, Art Quilting 101.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just have fun playing around with fabrics, colors and other decorative elements. And Wendy's course is a wonderful one!!

Thank you. I had a wonderful time learning how to do it in the class and have been enjoying more since, too!

Thanks. I took the Craftsy course with Wendy Butler Berns "Art Quilting 101" - and she had the idea about the couching with yarn as well as finishing the edge with the eyelash yarn.... Then I just started using all kinds of stuff!

It can be hung, but I have it kind of propped up on a side table in our living room.... Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you liked it !

Thanks! It was my first effort and was really fun to make. It got me thinking in new ways about how to use fabric in art.
