What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don;t ever give up. If it does not work out, ask other people and keep trying.

I love this project! I just finished a portrait of Frida Kahlo. I am now also hooked on portraits in fabric. I love the textures you achieved with the stitching!

do you put your picture into a software program to posterize it or how do you do it? I do use software but sometimes, have problems with the shading, when is too much too much and visa versa. Thanks for looking and the coments. Really appreciate it.

I hand draw the pictures from a photograph. I don't try to recreate the shading perfectly. I just use the image as a guide. The only program I have used is on the in the Photo Booth on my Mac I took a "cartoon" picture of myself which I am now trying to recreate using fabric that looks like pixals. On that I basically printed it out and enlarged it and have been tracing the shapes. I'll post it if/when I get it done! This past week I did a small fabric portrait of Frida Kahlo, I'll put up today. Yours has much more depth!

i purchased an online class using adobe photoshop elements and i just followed the steps until eventually i posterized it. If you want to know more, just let me know. It is such a fun thing to do, you can make people laugh when you do their picture and they are not expecting it. The software makes it so easy too. Hey, thanks again. K
