What was your inspiration?

I had made a quilt 40 years earlier and wanted to make a wall hanging for the tall wall above the stairs. In my research I came across a book called Circle Quilts and was inspired by the beautiful photographs. My quilt is not heavily quilted within the birders, Each block is unique and it was a delightful process of combining fabrics. It was a challenge to choose a layout but I remembered that "movement" and "drawing the eye across the quilt" were important. I used an attachemnt specifically designed to make perfect circles which I saw on Sewing With Nancy. It was very easy to then fuse the circles to the squares. I want to make a long horizontal quilt next. By the way, I spent nearly a year collecting fabrics for the quilt. It all came together when I brought my four year-old grandson to shop for fabrics. He had a better eye than I.

What are you most proud of?

That I was able to create something good enough to hang on my wall!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Purchase the circle attachment and walking foot.
