Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2013 with Laura Nownes »

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Other

Style: Mod

Materials

Fat quarters and plain cottons from my stash

What was your inspiration?

Block of the Month class. Still lots to learn

What are you most proud of?

I didn't buy any more material to make these. I am going to Stash Bust!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Listen to the detailed cutting instructions and take your time as my strips came out at 5 inches so I had to add a little extra

The Craftsy lessons are great. I have tried to sew for years but had no one to explain how to do anything. I have worked as a machinist in factory's....But as long as I could sew a straight line, rush get the orders out, I kept my job. That type of sewing I hated but I knew I liked making things. So here I am taking my time and really enjoying myself for a change. Glad you are too.

Me too, my mother sewed but I lost her early in life. I am a visual learner so I think I get more from the Craftsy platform. I have signed up to quite a lot of the sewing classes and am going to try to improve this year

You do lovely work. Some information you asked for, good luck with it. I have have found a blog from Leah Day one of the teachers on how to connect all the blocks together. I`m going to use this method. http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.co.uk/2009/12/quilt-as-you-go-connections.html

Thanks for the link and the praise. I like your work too. Isn't this Craftsy Club great it really helps me to focus and expand my ideas. I have sewn on and off for years and wish I had found quilting earlier as I think it's where my heart lies!
