I work from my own photos. I enlarge them on the computer and trace them onto tracing paper.

Getting the shading color is difficult. You should not be too disappointed. I didn't notice the added darkness before you mentioned it and after studying it again - I still love it and admire the job you did. I have been playing with fabric paint. I have a picture of my Mom with one of her Great grand babies that I would love to make.

Beautiful work Leilani. You have captured the precious facial expression perfectly. I have been trying to study your technique. Would you mind telling if you use paint or stitch on the face? I am guessing paint but would appreciate any discussion of process you feel comfortable offering.

I hand sketch the face with coloured pencil. On this one I deepened it a bit with black fabric pen, but was disappointed as i think it is a bit too black
