I cut a sheet cake in the shape of the bottle and used cake pieces to make the neck of the bottle. The cake is covered with fondant and airbrushed with a mixture of several colors (some luster) to get the right color. I then covered the cap with a thin layer of black fondant. I airbrushed wafer paper silver and cut a thin strip to use for the silver band on the cap. I made the labels with a 50/50 mix of gumpaste and fondant. I hand painted the labels with food color and markers, then shaded with luster and pedal dust.
What was your inspiration?
The bride wanted to surprise her groom with a cake that looked like his favorite drink.
What are you most proud of?
After working on the hand painted labels for hours I was happy with the finished product. I did the shading with a mixture of luster and pedal dust.
