Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Unisex

Style: Cute, Funky, Mod, Hipster, Whimsical, Casual

Materials

Pirate Cat Yarns 100% Upcycled yarn: 55% silk, 15% wool, 15% cotton, 15% acrylic www.etsy.com/shop/PirateCatYarns?ref=ss_profile Glow in the Dark Pony Beads www.urbanhomesteaders.etsy.com

What was your inspiration?

I had this fantastic reclaimed yarn from Pirate Cat, and finally saw the pattern from Hook Hound that made me say, Oh! Oh! The pattern has tortoise shell eyes but she suggested glow in the dark pony beads, which I found on Etsy too. I would like to find glow in the dark buttons but could not, at least not online. Anybody have any suggestions?

What are you most proud of?

Being able to master the post stitches, and attaching the eyes.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Go for it! This only took 3 hours or so.

I've made the scarf; next I want to make the little tote or clutch bag! I was thinking dark brown, but I don't think the owls would show. I have her cardigan & pullover patterns, not brave enough yet....

Glow in the dark beads! Oooh! Want!! Sadly, I can't crochet much more than chain, but there's a similar knit hat on ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/owl-hat-4

I've made this hat as well - I absolutely love it!!! The designer has matching patterns - a sweater and pullover I believe.
