What advice would you give someone starting this project? This pattern is VERY well written and has great instructions; but it is not a beginner pattern. You really need to be very familiar with how to work double & treble post stitches to make cables. It doesn't mean that you CAN'T learn to make this if you've never done them before, just be prepared to practice first. It's well worth it though!!

This is beautiful!! Every where I look there are owls but this is by far the best owl pattern I have seen!! Wonderful work!!

If you look a bit further up this page - where it says "What was your source for this project" - there is a link to the pattern on Ravelry. Here it is again too - http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/its-a-hoot-an-owl-hat It's a great pattern - I loved making it. :-)
