What was your inspiration?

Always wanted to try an Irish Chain pattern. Wanted to execute it in traditional 'Irish' greens and white. These prints were perfect for my purpose. It is hand quilted.

What are you most proud of?

Love the crisp, clean look.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I used 3-1/2" whole squares, and 1-1/2" strips sewn together to make up the strips needed for the 9-patch blocks. The Simplicity tutorial shows how they go together. Mine is a miniature quilt for a table topper or wall hanging, so I had to downsize the block size accordingly. It is a cute little miniature quilt.

I agree about the crisp, clean look. Sometimes less is more - that's why I love the Irish Chain pattern. Simply elegant. Very nice:)

If you plan on hand quilting it, this is a good one to start on. All that is required is quilt an "X" over each square, i.e. one large on over the large square, and then smaller 'X's' over each smaller square. It is also a very simple quilt to piece together. Good luck on your venture, whatever quilt you choose.

I'm a fairly new quilter but this looks like one that I could do. I love the greens and may make one similar to yours. I also like to make baby quilts with the name, date and other info about the baby's birth, this would make a cute pattern for both boys and girls and I could embroider the information in the bigger plain blocks and even embroider animals or something in the other bigger squares. I hand sew everything so it takes awhile to make so this is a perfect pattern for my interests. Thanks for sharing your quilt. It turned out wonderfully.
