Instructions

I constructed this just a little differently than this tutorial shows.

I started with a two yard length of fabric and cut a 14" wide piece from that (so I was working with a 72" x 14" piece) I sewed a seam the entire length of the scarf leaving about a 3 inch opening about six inches from one end. What was your inspiration?

Video tutorial by Crafty Gemini and seeing a friend wearing one of these types of scarves at my quilting group.

What are you most proud of?

Figuring out how to get a decent seam on chiffon fabric.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

You can use almost any kind of fabric for this, as long as it has some "drape" to it. Even fleece would work if you wanted something warm and cozy. You can also adjust the length and width to your own preference.

I used chiffon fabric for this since I wanted a light fashion scarf rather than a more utilitarian one. First time I've ever worked with chiffon and it is a bit tricky. The fabric is very fluid and shifts easily so be very careful while cutting and pinning, trying to get as straight a line as you can....otherwise your seam will end up looking all wavy. I also had to lower my upper thread tension quite a bit.

Very pretty, but the instructions are a little confusing. I look forward to your step by step pics. Your scarf is very well done. Thank you for sharing. :-)

I'm just about to upload the pictures but I'm not sure they will clear much up, LOL. It's one of those things that when you see it done, it's so easy, but hard to explain.
