Hi AR! Thank you so much for sharing your work. Your pictures are amazing and so helpful to other students, to see things underway in a real student's studio is so helpful and inspiring. You will be a success at this because you understand there may be a bump or two along the way. This is a skill we all are learning...certainly not an insurmountable or even terribly difficult one, but there is a reason we all have a glow of pride when a piece turns out well! Your advice to "be prepared to watch your work go up into a flaming ball and laugh about it" is spot on. In truth, it's probably not much more than five or ten dollars worth of clay which ever gets melted during the learning phase..maybe twenty of you are really having a bad day..but I tell myself that the savings of taking the Craftsy class lets you burn up a lot of silver before you get near the price of taking a class locally. Plus you get to do the Craftsy class all in your own home, in your bunny slippers! And your instructor comes back to check on you ; ) Keep on firing and let us all see how it's turning out. The face piece looks fabulous, I am looking forward to seeing that finished. I just put up a project/item from early in my Etsy days - my Lumpen Beauty pendant. Not only was I able to reclaim my silver lumps, I was able to turn them into something beautiful that someone bought! Silver is never lost, that's the good news about using it for your art. It can always be recycled in a host of ways. Looking forward to seeing more of your torching adventures!
