What are you most proud of? USING UP SCRAP FABRIC Without any regard to color or fabric print I sewed scrap fabric rectangles together, resulting in a sort of a patchwork fabric. I bonded the patchwork fabric to a second foundation fabric, using free motion quilting, but soon realized I could have used decorative stitching and/or couching I learned in Carol Ann Waugh's Stupendous Stitching Class to bond the fabrics together. (I'll do that on my next fabric basket project). The reason for the two layers of fabric is to make a sturdy fabric basket cylinder. I made a casing top and bottom of the basket cylinder and inserted the plastic banding. I measured the circumference of the fabric basket cylinder and cut 4 layers of fabric circles for the bottom of the basket. I bonded the four fabric circles by stitching 1/4" around the perimeter. I turned under the circle 1/4" and hand-stitched around the perimeter binding the bottom to the cylinder. Actually, I hand-stitched around the perimeter twice. The second time, I hid the stitches with decorative rat-tail cord. The second set of stitches makes the basket very secure.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I added a embroidered pocket to the basket, I'M A BASKET CASE." But you could easily put your son or daughter's name on the pocket with a permanent marker. I think it would make a great mini laundry basket for anyone. Hey, put the kids clean socks and undies in the basket and hand it to them to put away in their room. Do you think you could get them to bring their soiled clothes back to the laundry room in their personalized fabric basket ? I think the fabric basket would make a quick pickup tote for small toys, or used in baby's room to hold wipes, and powder, and ointment, diapers, etc.
