Girl with the Pearl - Again

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Thread Art »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Materials

Neutral Fat Quarter, Thread, Batting, Colored Pencils

What was your inspiration?

The Thread Art course on Craftsy with Lola Jenkins!

What are you most proud of?

Well, I think that my second attempt turned out much better than the first one did. I had fun with the colors also.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be careful that your hands don't get into the colors like mine did. I managed to carry red across my accent lines. I've tried the Tide pen and Clorox and may end up just coloring them in because it doesn't look like the red is going to come out. Well, ok, that AND the fact that the Clorox has bleached the underlying fabric. One of my brighter moments, NOT! LOL. But I'm still pleased with the end result. Now on to binding and finding another photo - maybe my Granddaughter, which is why I wanted to take this course in the first place.

Red is a funny color. Exterior red paint used in a mural will be one of the first colors to fade. Red ink on fabric is impossible to get out. Looks like you gave it a good try to remove it. I had to go back to find what you were talking about. It didn't jumb out and catch my eye. With each project we learn something new.
