Instructions

The petal shapes for the flowers are an idea that developed in my mind after watching The Craftsy Block of the month, how to make the Dresden plate pattern block. Just cut a piece of card into a petal shape the size you need and cut as many as you need out of the material that you like. Materials

I used bits and bobs of left over material from other projects and cut up old sheets and clothing. The petal shapes for the flowers are an idea that developed in my mind after watching The Craftsy Block of the month, how to make the Dresden plate pattern block. Just cut a piece of card into a petal shape the size you need and cut as many as you need out of the material that you like. Each petal will need a backing so that you can turn it right side out to leave a neat edge after sewing all round. Cut a off a small piece of material from one of the pointed ends of the petal and turn right side out and sew onto your block. Centres of the flowers are done in the same way but cut a small slit in the back of the centre of the circle then turn right side out. Press all pieces with a warm iron before sewing onto your block.

What are you most proud of?

I love the way the daisy`s just pop out at me after stippling around them.

What a clever idea - I love it! I love daisies too, and even had an Auntie Daisy. I may just have to "steal" your idea for a baby quilt. Incidentally, your vermicelli quilting is great and exactly right for this quilt - well done you!!

Go ahead have a try, the daisy pattern takes a bit of time to do but on a baby quilt it wont be so bad. Let me see when you`ve done.

What is tatting? Wow, you have been so lucky in having people around you to encourage and teach you knitting etc. I`m still fighting with mine.

Tatting, well there are two forms of tatting, shuttle or needle, I've tried my hand at both and found that I preferred needle tatting, it's not the easiest thing to explain but there are only two stitches involved, really and a long (6inch) tatting needle, if you like knitting and crochet then there's a good chance you'd like tatting. If you type 'needle tatting tutorial youtube' into your searchbar you'll be amazed at how many there are, all I can liken it to is lace but that all depends on the size thread that you use. Try it, what have you got to lose, you'll either love it or hate it lol but at least you can say you've tried. ;-)

I had a look at tatting on you-tube......Umm? I may try it because I have found some thick silk thread in my junk box, two balls of cream and a ball of red. Thank you Keencrafter.

lol...I suppose it does look a bit daunting at first, but I can assure you that once you get started you will find it quite absorbing. I have been online looking for tatting patterns and have discovered that there is a 3rd way of doing it called cro-tatting! take a look at this link- http://www.tattingpatterncentral.com/categories/how-to-tat-tutorials.php - I hope you find it useful,. I'd love to hear how you get on too.
