Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: I used a stencil for the "LA BIBLE" words. I made the stencil using the instructions from the modern piping class.

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of my stenciling, because this was my first time creating a stencil. I am also proud of the leather look I achieved, because that is the effect I was striving for.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Be open minded to changes in your original plan/design along the way. Some things pose a greater challenge than you anticipate and you may have to alter your plan/design a bit.

I made the stencil myself from stencil sheets I bought at Michael's. But you can easily make a stencil from paper. Just print what you want and cut out the words.

Great job! How did you get that leather texture look please? I want to make a Bible also. Thanks.

Thank you Kathleen. I bought a piece of material from Joanne's that had the texture I was looking for, and embossed the fondant with it. Then I used an edible lacquer spray to get the sheen. Hope this helps.

This is incredibly well done. Thanks for sharing it. I may try something similar for the ministers at our church.
