What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make the roses, hydrangeas and fillers ahead of time, let it dry for several days before you place them on the cake.

I live in Australia too and I am enthusiastically working my way through the cake decorating courses - and loving it. I only do it more for occupational therapy as I am an invalid but I have learned so much from Craftsy. Give it a go, you may surprise yourself :)

I Gloria. Your cake is so beautiful. I am making a three tier cake with the same topper, but just roses. What is your suggestion in the assembling the topper? I am using a semisphere covered with fondant. Did you assemble yours starting from the top rose and going down or did you start with the bottom roses touching the last tier...thank you for your help.

Hi raffa! Oh awesome, I recommend that you start from the bottom up to make sure you have the right spaces at the bottom of the bouquet. As you reach the top you can pick and choose the right size roses or buds to fit into place. Let me know if you have any other questions, would live to see how it all turns out! Keep me posted!

WELL!! This is just perfection!! May I ask if the cake is covered in buttercream or fondant? Its difficult to tell in the picture. But what I really want to know is how you got the color? I need to achieve this very color for a wedding cake I've got coming up. Again, you've done a masterful job on this cake.

The cake is covered in fondant, I used a creme/tan food color and used white royal icing. As far as the roses, I used the same fondant color then highlighted the edges of the rose petals with yellow/moss/cornstarch mixture. WOW. Stunning! Where'd you learn to do that? I know online courses for Hydrangea flowers are offered by the very famous Jacqueline Butler, but what about the roses? Beautiful.

Hi Vahishta, The roses was self taught. I found a few online tutorials; however after working and practicing on roses, you can come up with your own interpretations of how the petals fall and coloring. I used a 5 petal rose cutter in several sizes.

Hi Old Creamery, I actually learned online. Check youtube and I practiced on a piece of fondant with a few paint brushes to see which worked better.

Hi ibakecake914025, I used a half sphere styrofoam, lightly covered with fondant. I also stabilized the top tier with 3 dowls to make sure the flowers wouldn't sink or collapse. Hope that helps!
