Norm Davis and Zane Beg taught " Henna" piping on cakes during a Cake Cruise! There will be another one in 2014. Though they teach at "the Sweet Life"... Yours is very nice!

I am also registered in the Modern Piping course. I look forward to the day when I am so comfortable with piping. Your cake is splendid & it takes a lot of courage & talent to go for such a high contrast design. Congratulations. Cake 'muggles' just cannot comprehend the many hours that go into these cakes.

Thank you! It is very difficult to get deep/bright colours. I actually mix all of my colours from primary water based colours. ( except for cerise pink!) You do need a lot of coloring to get a rich colour, but I find the water based colours don't effect the fondant as much as the oil based powders, or even the gels. The only thing is, I don't have a brand name for you. I buy the water based powder from a local baking supplies shop, and its sold as the shop's own brand. Xx

Thank you! I piped the whole cake in grey coloured royal icing, waited for it to dry and then painted it all with silver dust paint. Check out the Modern Piping class to see another idea of how to pipe with metallics. Xxx
