What was your inspiration?
We are visiting the Old West Festival for the first time, and wanted to dress up. Usually, my husband gets the short end of the stick when it comes to costumes (meaning, he doesn't get included, usually Ladies and children only). I picked Simplicity 2895 to use, as it was designed by Buckaroo Bobbins. I only made the shirt and waist coat, but I loved the way they turned out. I will be making him the frock coat soon. I will probably make him several more waist coats, in different materials. The tie was my own design, and I will be making him more, in just about every color.
What are you most proud of?
I am very proud of how well the garments came out. This is my first attempt at men's tailored garments.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
My suggestions are: read the pattern several times before starting, and when you think you understand them, read them again. If you have never done pocket welts, look up a couple of tutorials on youtube to watch, and then take some scrap fabric to practice with before you touch the fabric you are actually going to be using.
