Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Whimsical, Casual, Eco-Friendly, Hipster, Funky

Materials

Harley Davidson blue jeans, silk ribbon, embroidery floss, batik, magentic snap, leather purse handle, thread, fusible fleese

What was your inspiration?

I wanted a new handbag and had a pair of my husband's old jeans asking to be recycled into somthing fun. I also had been wanting to try my hand at ribbon embroidery. What better place to embroidery then on a pair of jeans. Made me remember my jeans during my teenage years in the 70s. Okay, the embroidery then was more peace signs and such, but I think my flowers on the handbag turned out nicely and the leather purse handles really adds to the bag. I found it to be an easy bag to make.

What are you most proud of?

I like the how the finish product looks.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Find a handbag pattern you like and modify it to fit your needs.

What a great looking bag. I love that little embroidery accent, and the work is lovely. I also really like your choice of handles...the look is "right", and the inbetween weight of them (not plastic, and not fabric) are so much more practical. All in all, I'm green with envy!
