What materials did you use? Silk Habotai dyed and embellished with needle felted black felt silhouettes.

What are you most proud of? I like the silhouettes.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? This isn't as hard as it might look, but it helps to have the right tools. I posted it mainly to give my wonderful students some ideas for how to use their gorgeous dyed fabrics.

Beautiful piece! The black really makes the beauty of the dyed silk shine.

Love the colors. Did you paint the flower?

Excuse my ignorance please. What exactly is an "Embellisher Machine"?

09/07/2012 Flag

An Embellisher machine with seven needles like fishing hooks - slightly barbed. There isn't any thread! The needles go up and down through the fabric and felt other fabrics onto the surface. If you google babylock Embellisher you can probably find a website that has a photo of the machine. It's very neat!

On the background cloth how did you get the small square shapes? I have the Simplicity embellishing machine, and this could also be felted by hand.
