Cotton fabric, Isacord Embroidery Thread, YLI Wonder Invisible Thread

What was your inspiration?

This is for my son & daughter-in-law. She loves hummers & he loves wild animals. Unfortunately I don't have a way to display it that I could take a really good photo so the hummers & animals could be seen.
I had the quilt top almost finished when I signed up for Ann Petersen's class, Quilting Big Projects on a Small Machine. I had quilted a King Size quilt many years ago, but using tips & techniques from Ann's class the result was much better and not having the aches & pains while quilting was great.

What are you most proud of?

The star blocks turned out quite well and the embroidered blocks are gorgeous. Even though the free motion quilting is not even close to expert, I completed the whole quilt myself.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I would suggest doing the embroidered designs & then putting the block together. If you want to use the embroidery machine for the quilting, find a better way to do it than attempt to work on a finished King Size quilt. I ended up embroidering the stars & hearts design and then adding a bit of batting under the design and appliqueing them to the quilt and then free motioned around each design.
