Grandson's Quilt

Grandson's Quilt
Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Children

Style: Traditional

Materials

A variety of fabrics from different lines.

What was your inspiration?

Seeing this done on Quilting Quickly II.

What are you most proud of?

I really like the way it looks. Since I choose individual fabrics, it was nice to see that they look good together.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you choose your own fabrics, I wouldn't recommend getting stripes. Also the fabric pattern colors needs to be equal. i.e. 2 blues, 2 reds, 2 browns, etc. I started with an odd combination and had to fix it. Mine was 5/5/4/4. (Didn't work) This is not a fast quilt, but worth the extra time.

I love your quilt, the fabric choices are perfect, I did a baby size one using charm packs and my colours were too close in value so the pattern sort of got lost. I saw the same video tutorial you were inspired by.

WOW is this ever a nice looking quilt. Was it hard to do? I have always wanted to make something like this but have never seen one made up already. You sure made a number one hit with this quilt. Wonder what it would look like in purples, blues, yellows, and pinks? Not that those are my favorite colors, it's just that those colors I seem to have a lot of fabrics in. Any suggestions as to a good lighter color combo would work good with this pattern?? You really did a Great Job on this one!! Bev B

I used 1/2 yd. of 20 different fabrics. Of course it can be done with one or 20 different fabrics. The colors you listed sounds good together. I also like lavendars and teals togther. Make sure yu post a picture of it when your done.

Thank you. The x's and o's are shown in Jenny Doan's Quilting Quickly course II. I used 1/2 yd. of 20 different fabrics. Blue, red, black & brown, ( 5 of each color). This makes a lg. queen size quilt. You will also 3.75 yds. of the white. Have fun!

Lovely!! It is hard to find quilt patterns that are fit a 'masculine' decor. The pattern is bold and the colors had a wonderful masculine feeling. Nice job!!
