100% Cotton Fabric & Thread, poly/cotton batting

What was your inspiration?

My Granddaughter's High School Graduation, 18th Birthday, her collection of horse statues, and her love of animals. She wants to be a veteranarian.

What are you most proud of?

I wanted a horse quilt that wasn't western themed. The dark brown sashing around the focus blocks reminded me of a corral, the tan fabric reminded me of rope, and the green border reminded me of the pasture. I quilted the sashing around the blocks with a rope design. The overall quilting pattern was horseshoes and stars.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This pattern works well for the "directional" print of the fabric. When sewing the blocks together, remember to keep the blocks all facing the same direction.
