you need to get a round knitting needle and u need for 16 inches
Making a slip knot 1. Wind the yarn around two fingers and over the two fingers again to the back of the first thread 2. Using a knitting needle pull the back thread through the front one to form a loop 3. Pull end to tighten loop
Casting on with the thumb method (one needle) 1. Make a slip knot about 1 metre from the end of the yarn. Place the slip knot on a needle and hold the needle in the right hand with the ball end of the yarn over your first finger. * Wind the loose end of the yarn round the left thumb from front to back 2.Insert the needle through the yarn on the thumb 3. Take the yarn with your right forefinger over the point of the needle 4. Pull the loop through to form the first stitch 5. Remove your left thumb from the yarn and pull the loose end to secure the stitch
do this for 16 inches dann you conect them together on the end because you need to knit around . you also need to knit 16 inches high when u have your 16 inch than u cast off.
Casting Off Casting off is the method used to dispose of a number of stitches. It is used during shaping, on shoulder seams for example and often forms the last row of the work. Always cast off in pattern, i.e. when working on stocking stitch cast off knitwise on a knit row and purlwise on a purl row and when casting off ribbing, do so as if you were continuing to rib. Most pattern stitches can be followed when casting off.
Casting off knitwise Knit the first two stitches. * Using the left hand needle, lift the first stitch over the second and drop it off the needle. Knit the next stitch and repeat than u have 2 opening you take one ending and take a tapestry needle put the same yarn color in and you go in and out off the bottom stitches leave 5 inches hanging on the side u started when u have all the stitches done with the tapestry needle than hold both strings in one hand and pull softly so it closes the hole and u secure it with at least 1 double knot.
do the same with the hat
