What was your inspiration?
I won a chicken pin cushion at the Hillsboro Quilt show after leaving the show, my friend and I looked at each other and the chicken and said: "this is so cool, we can make one of these!"
What are you most proud of?
That we figured it out in no time flat, improvised with the 'mane' and used a rag affect, since we didn't have trim like they used on the original.
The original is the 'yellow' one in the front row with pins in him.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Have fun! Use funky fabrics - make the mane longer it looks pretty cool if you make the outside mane slightly longer than the inside... same for the tail feathers. Get crazy!!!! Hardest part of this project is finding shank buttons for the eyes.
