What was your inspiration?

Because I am working with holiday colored fabrics, and hope to have this completed to display at Christmas this year, a Christmas tree block was a natural.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I choose a very bright background for this block, but the tree would probably pop a bit more against a litter background. Also, make sure that there is enough contract between the background piece and the hexagons that form the outer edge of the tree. A few of mine tend to blend into the background.

This is a very cute block. I printed a picture of it and have dont he math to make in to a quilt using larger hexagons. Thanks for the inspiration.

Just read over my advice and realized that auto-corrrct has been helping me again :-). Should have read "a lighter background", and "enough contrast".
