Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Instructions

If you don't have coordinating thread on head to join the hexis GO BUY IT. My whip stitches show and now I need to go back and applique to cover them up once I buy the right thread. Made more work for myself.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Charity

Style: Cute, Casual, Whimsical, Funky

Materials

Cotton fabric, invisible thread

What was your inspiration?

Another member suggested I pull some solids to help tone down the business that's been building to date. Also I've seen some two color work in the Project Gallery I really like. Finally, I'm a math nut. Hence the geometric design.

What are you most proud of?

Thought its hard to see in my amature photo the strips in the mauve fabric actually spiral out from the center hexi. This lends to the overall affect of spinning I was going for. Also, I found another way to use one of the cats in my original fat quarters!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Check out the Class Projects pictures. There's a lot of inspiration this month!

Hi Melissa - Thanks for the tip. As it so happens I just finished redoing it yesterday. Sharpies would have been a lot easier. I also redid the sun on my soccer ball block. Will post new pictures later today. Thanks again!

You don't have to go buy more thread and go back over it, use a sharpie and color the thread the color of the fabric. : D Works like a charm!
