What was your inspiration?

I have been saving old Hawaiian print shirts, shorts and fabric scraps for almost 30 years. The three red squares toward the center are from the first Hawaiian shirt I made my husband when we were dating. We've been to Hawaii twice, 3 different islands, and loved every minute of it.

What are you most proud of?

While I had many ideas on how to tackle this quilt, I simply needed to make a decision and go for it. Once I started, I never looked back and was happy with every step. I absolutely loved taking this course and being able to quilt it at home.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just start and enjoy. Some weeks I sewed as little as 20 minutes, some weeks for hours. Since I am lucky enough to have a sewing room, this project was always out and easily accessible, so even 20 minutes of sewing meant getting a fair amount done.

This is gorgeous... my husband and I went to Hawaii last year and it was fabulous, he even bought a shirt! Maybe some day I might get to cut it up and put it into a quilt:) Great inspiration thanks.
