Patriotic Hat Shaped Pin Cushion with Red or Blue lace bow Handmade From MadewithLovebyDeena The unique hat-shaped Pin Cushion is not only pretty but useful/functional as well! Homemade by me with love in a smoke-free, pet-free home. Made in America!
It is made of either cotton or Cotton Knit fabrics and has a cardboard base and band to hold the hat shape.
It is stuffed with poylester fiberfill and has a polyester batting wrapped around it to hold the stuffing in place.
To give it a final touch, a lace ribbon is placed around the hat and neatly tied in a bow.
There is one done in a Red, White, Blue and Yellow patriotic motif with hearts, stars and flags... with a red ribbon or a blue ribbon...There is also one in a floral motif,,,The pictures show the details.
This would look lovely next to your sewing machine or as a decorative piece in your home. It is functional as a pin cushion and will hold many types of pins, and needles for all of your sewing needs!
It measures ~ 6 1/2 " diameter base and ~4" diameter top and stands ~3 1/2" tall. Because of the cardboard used inside, washing is not recommended.

What was your inspiration?
My grandmother made these hat-shaped pin cushions many years ago...and I have several of them that I use on a daily basis...when my daughter asked me to make her one, I thought I could make up some to sell too. These are listed on my Etsy site - see the right hand side to the link there and you can purchase them there.
What are you most proud of?
How nice they look and versitile to use!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
It's a hand-sewing project - so if you are good with hand sewing, then you could probably make them too.
