Cut Cotton Fabric of your choice 18" x 9 or more " Depending on how tall you want your pumpkin, you can make the fabric wider and taller or shorter.
1. Stitch the short ends of the Fabric together to create a tube.
2. Take a running stitch with double thread along the bottom of your tube. Pull tightly to gather up on the inside and tie off with a knot.
3. Take a running stitch with double thread along the top of your tube. Now stuff with poly fill and pull the threads again to gather up tightly and tie off.
4. Use the raffia to tie your pumpkin, just like a package, wrapping around to make 6 "sections" Tie a knot with the raffia at the top leaving the extra bits to hang over like straw. If you pull the raffia a bit as you wrap it you will get the crinkles that really make them look life like. Play with it till you get the look you want.
5. Hot glue your leaves in place at the top of your pumpkin.
6. Cut a pipe cleaner in half and wind it around a pencil to make a coil. Gently curve this until the two ends meet and twist them slightly to hold. Hot clue this "stem" into place. You can add additional coils for tendrils if you wish.
They are great fun scattered down the middle of your table and make a lovely last minute present for your host if you are going to dinner at someones home.Cut Cotton Fabric of your choice 18" x 9 or more " Depending on how tall you want your pumpkin, you can make the fabric wider and taller or shorter.

What was your inspiration?
I've seen scads of these on the net over the past few years and kind of adapted different features from the ones I liked to create a fast format that would generate the look I wanted.
What are you most proud of?
I love the look of batiks with these and unusual colors.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I like to brush on very fine glitter too for added sparkle!
Oh... and I had to see what your response was to Darns request you drop everything etc... SOOO sorry to hear about your hubby and the cast to the armpit... can't imagine how fun that is! Oh and when it starts itching! Happy holidays to you and yours! And all our BOM buddies! :D
You made me think of my Grandmother...she was from Sheffield, I have her Christmas pudding recipe which belonged to her Grandmother! It's amazing!!! I love the holidays!

Well, that's just adorable!! BTW, how are you doing on the swoon quilt? I so want to see that one. Would you mind setting aside all your other projects just to satisfy my need to see the swoon quilt?? LOL!
My husband broke his wrist in two places, weekend before last...I swear, between the two of us you would think we couldn't stand upright! Anyway, he is in a cast up to his arm pit and not a happy camper, requiring much babyation. Needless to say, My quilting has suffered for it. We are taking off to my son's home in Squaw Valley for Turkey Day, so I probably won't get at that last block until Friday or Saturday! I am so anxious to get it done and sashed!!!! That and a gazillion Christmas presents I am working on. I need 48 hours in each day!
WOW! You guys have really been through it recently! Hope hubby heals well. Take care of yourselves - quilting can wait. Happy Turkey day! Deanna, your SIQ (sister in quilting)
