Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Infant/Baby

Style: Whimsical, Cute, Traditional

Materials

Moda cottons from Moda Solids, "Lily and Will", and "Puttin on the Ritz" collections. Warm and Natural batting. "So Fine" Quilting thread. Corner elephant applique designs from "Designs By Juju"

What was your inspiration?

The new Mommy and Daddy were using khaki and blue as nursery colors and elephants as theme. I found the 4 corner sweet elephant applique designs for 'in-the-hoop' at www.DesignsByJuju.com. Quilting was free-motion in the elephant blocks and in the 9 pathc blocks I used a Design Board pattern from www.UrbanElementz.com

What are you most proud of?

I was very happy with my quilting on this project.
Mommy, Daddy, and both Grandmothers loved the quilt! It will be used as a wallhanging over the crib.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a simple quilt to make. I did use my embroidery machine (Viking Ruby) to make the elephant appliques and I used a longarm quilting machine to quilt it. Also used 5D Professional Embroisery Software to enlarge the appliques to the size I wanted and to create the center embroidered name/applique design.
