Gluing paper into spine

Instructions

Slice book guts from cover, reserve end paper. Reglue end papers to cover spine gap. If using glue-on attachments, line them up on back and e-reader. If using elastic over e-reader, glue endpaper over heavy cardstock, glue clear elastic over that piece and then glue that whole megillah to the back. Use weights or clamps until it's dry. Enjoy!

Type of item: Accessory

For: Unisex

Style: Retro / Vintage

Materials

Old book cover, glue, semipermanent glue attachments, metal ruler, time to let the dang thing set.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Update: after heavy use, the spine interior cracks and splits. I knew that gluing the paper in the gutter would eventually fail, and it has. I I would suggest fabric or ribbon in the interior spine "gulch", and gluing it to the covers, not the 'gulch'. Nothing lasts forever.
