What was your inspiration?
Don't have time or enough yarn to knit a whole sweater? This is a fantastic alternative to get the 'look' of a special hand-knit sweater when worn layered under a sweatshirt or other inexpensive store-bought shirt.
What are you most proud of?
The dickey is knitted starting with a nicely patterned turtleneck then proceeds seamlessly to the raglan-style yoke. Detailed instructions give a comfortable fit around the neck (i.e. the back neckline is raised above the front neckline so that the turtleneck does not feel to high in the front or 'strangle' the wearer). Also, the front flap is longer than the back flap to allow enough coverage in the front when worn with an open-collared shirt or v-neck sweatshirt.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Pattern includes instructions for 2 sizes - up to 15" neck, [to 18"]. 250 [300] yards sportweight yarn, approx 2 [3] oz, 5 stitches/inch, size US 6 / 4.0 mm needles suggested. Written stitch instructions.
