Instructions
One must learn traditional stone carving techniques first. I adapted them to a smaller scale for jewelry. I took large blocks of alabaster and using a band saw cut the stone down into working pieces. I used rasps, drill bits on a flex shaft and wet/dry sandpaper to smooth and polish the shapes. Silk cord is attached with a Larks knot.Difficulty:

Alabaster and silk cord.
What was your inspiration?
Pure form. I love to embellish but sometimes it's important to strip down to the pure form and to find it through subtractive stone carving is an excellent way.
What are you most proud of?
That I developed my own techniques for working with stone for jewelry.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you can, try taking a stone carving class to learn the basics.
