German white porcelain vase blank Porcelain paints, oil, brushes, etc. Electric kiln

What was your inspiration?

I have always loved roses and hydrangeas because of their subtle colorations and fragile beauty. I love to paint both roses and hydranges. This large (16") vase was a wedding gift for a relative. The gold rim is 24k fired on gold.

What are you most proud of?

All of my designs on porcelain and glass are original and done free hand with no 'cartoons' or sketches.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Find a go'od china painting teacher in your area and sign up for classes. Also, one can find books on the medium online and occassionally in libraries. This art form/media harkens back to ancient China. The Victorian Age brought 'china painting' to victorian ladies of the era. Antique shops carry antique painted porcelain by such artisans for RSPrussia, RSGermany, Leykauf, and others. It is a wonderfully beautiful medium.

Wow! This is really beautiful. I have some pieces that were painted by my husband's great grandmother, and it's so fun to see this art still being done.

This is so beautiful - your painting is exquisite! I've seen quite a few older porcelain pieces that were hand-painted and I've always loved the look. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you so much for your kind compliments. Porcelain painting is not an easy medium to master. WHat you see is the result of about 40 years of painting. It is one of my great passions.
