What materials did you use? Hutchenreuther German porcelain blank. Porcelain paints. Evenheat electric kiln.

What are you most proud of? I am partial to painting roses, and my painting reflects the attention to detail and the natural fragility of the lovely rose.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Find a good teacher in your area to get the proper instruction for mixing and using porcelain and glass paints. The painting I do is NOT the type promoted by craft stores. The paints I used are powdered mineral based paints mixed with an oil medium for application. After they are applied the painted object has to be fired to a temperature of 1125F degrees. It is not an art form for the faint of heart, and it takes great patience and willingness to learn the proper painting techniques.

Gorgeous! I'm a porcelain painter as well, but I'm leagues behind you. I have a blank bowl like yours. I've seen many of these painted, but yours I like best. It's elegant simplicity! (but way NOT simple to do!)

Thank you very much. Some painters use lots of gold on this blank. But, I prefer to let the embossing on th blank act as a 'frame' for the painting in the center. And you're right, I've been at it for nearly 40 years.
