Halloween Treat box and goodie bag

Instructions

I used the Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge to make this little Coffin "Goodie" box and to cut out the cute little dracula. I then used some Martha Stewart glitter and some ribbon to embellish the box.

This was the first project I made using my cricut. I mass produced several of these boxes to give out as Halloween Treats this year.

Difficulty:

Category: Paper Crafts

Type of item: Functional

For: Children

Style: Cute, Holiday

Materials

Cardstock, glitter and Ribbon

What was your inspiration?

Just feeling like getting into the Halloween mood - and wanting to make use of some of the glitter in my hobby room.

What are you most proud of?

The fact that this little project turned out nicely and it was the first time I ever put my cricut to use.

I bought it to work on 3D projects like this and was pleased with the outcome.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be organized if you plan to mass produce this project and keep your workspace nice and clean. I love the look glitter gives... but boy does it make a mess!!

I have been wanting to get a Cricut Machine, but hesitant about the price and all the cartridges...do you have any advice for someone wanting to buy one?

Well... honestly - I don't fully regret getting my cricket...but if I could do it over again, I might have invested in a different product. I now wish I had opted for a Silhouette. I don't spend a lot of money on cartidges so that limits me to how much I use the machine. I will most definately sell my cricket over time and purchase a machine that lets me cut SVG files. Unless you find a super duper deal on a Cricket - I say don't buy one... but others out there stand by the Cricut and probably don't agree with my assesment. I think the Cricut was a much better buy when you used to be able to use the Sure Cuts A Lot software - but that's no longer possible since Cricut sued SCAL. I unfortunately did not know about the lawsuit and had planned to purchase SCAL but I wasn't able to do that in time.

It's a pretty nice cartridge - I'm going to attempt making the 3D Haunted House next... it looks pretty intense but super cute. I highly recommend this cartridge to you.

Love the card. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my cricut! I stopped purchasing cards back in 2007 when I got mine and have enjoyed the freedom of creating my own personalized cards and gifts. Your really going to get a lot of use out of the Cricut. P.S. your right about the glitter : ) Try using stickles to add the bling they come in many colors but my favorite is crystals which adds sparkle to anything your doing.

Glitter and stickles are like my best friends... amazing how much pop they can give a project. I'm looking forward to learing how to work with my cricket. I think I'm going to enjoy it!
