Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:

Instructions

Candy Corn, a pattern featured on the cover of (Fons & Porter's) Easy Quilts Fall 2011 was used to create the quilt on the left.

The quilt on the right was also made following a pattern in a national quilt publication, but I can't recall which one. I do know that it would have been in either a 2006 or a 2007 Fall issue.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Children

Style: Cute, Casual, Holiday

Materials

A variety of quilter's cotton fabrics, cotton blend batting, cotton thread. Quilts were pieced and machine quilted by me.

What was your inspiration?

My beautiful granddaughters love to play dress up, both for Halloween and simply for fun. I wanted to make them something special that they would always have to carry these memories with them into the future.

What are you most proud of?

My machine quilting had been limited to stitch-in-the-ditch prior to creation of the jack-o-lantern quilt. I was able to use my quilt design to simulate the grooves found in pumpkins and was quite happy with the result.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have fun!
