What was your inspiration?

I was having a discussion with my friend about a scene in the film 'Ghost World' where Enid is wearing a rubber catwoman mask. I said I bet I could crochet one and my friend said she would love one for a Halloween costume and so the Crochet Catwoman Mask was born!

What are you most proud of?

I like that it's an adaptable item which can be made to be a Batman mask as well as Catwoman should you prefer. It's also a great little stash buster as it uses very little yarn and you can crochet it in an evening.

But mostly I like that you only need to have basic crochet skills to be able to make something impressive. This makes it a good confidence boosting patterns for newly fledged crocheters!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Check that you have the skills that you need before starting on the project. They're basic crochet skills which you can pick up using youtube video tutorials or from the help of a kind crocheting friend.

For this project you need the following skills:

Chain stitch
Slip stitch
Single crochet
Double crochet
Half double crochet
Crochet in the round
Decrease (crochet 2 stitches together)

Once you've got your head around those then happy crocheting!
