I had an actual electric guitar to copy the dementions so it was easier for me. Then I looked up pictures of the Hannah Montana guitar and redrew slightly to better match that guitar & details. So, draw out your pattern, even adding the detail to your paper. This makes it easier to make all the decor ahead of time to let dry. Paint your items after they dry. This was designed as two parts. I cut out a section of the cake where the neck will sit on top. I assembled it at Chuck E. Cheese for the customer, running the strings and attaching them with tylose glue. The neck (or handle) of the guitar is made out of rice krispie treats that sit on top of core board - I covered the underside of it with the woodgrain shelf paper. Then I coated the krispie treats in royal icing, let dry, then covered it in fondant. The bottom of the neck airbrushed brown, top purple. using the clay extruder for the lines (Frets) on neck. The tuning keys are just pieces of gumpaste with a skewer sticking out of them (dont forget to paint half way down the skewers too!) I made tiny screw heads with a very small round plunge cutter and an actual cross-tip screw driver. The headstock of the handle does not sit directly on the table. I cut a small star shape out of the core board and used double stick tape to raise it up prior to assembling it on the cake.
